Fall

This is just some thoughts/ramblings. I started writing this back at the end of August, so it's just a compilation of bits and pieces here and there.

Having not been able to use my watch for a while, realize that the heart of it is putting in the hard work and being focused on how you can get better. It's easy to get caught up in the data, or worry that you should/shouldn't be doing things you are/aren't. The thing is, that worrying about it simply isn't going to help you, that's why it's important to know what is really worth looking at and to understand why you're training the way you are. I've noticed that over the past couple of months I've learned a lot about the significance of what we're working on in preparation for this winter. With the school year getting into gear right now I'm focused on keeping my mind where it needs to be, as the summer is now behind us which means there is schoolwork to manage.

I know this all seems very straight-forward, but I feel that's the case with most things. Everything's clear in retrospect. Another quite obvious, however still new and relevant piece to add to the puzzle is the work we're starting to do with mental training with the team. I'm finding it very good and helpful, and it feels much more focused than in the past.

Coming up on the calendar, early snow in ForĂȘt Montmorency with team Ontario. I'm super hyped to get on snow and on the hills. Fingers crossed that the home base will have snow by the time I get back. I'm counting down the days.

P.S. Here is a really good inspirational video I found just browsing around. A lot of good quotes about attitude.
